KNX

Power line communication or power line carrier (PLC), also known as Power line Digital Subscriber Line (PDSL), mains communication, power line telecom (PLT), or power line networking (PLN), is a system for carrying data on a conductor also used for electric power transmission. KNX is a standardised (EN 50090,ISO/IEC 14543), OSI-based network communications protocol for intelligent buildings. KNX is the successor to, and convergence of, three previous standards: the European Home Systems Protocol (EHS), BatiBUS, and the European Installation Bus (EIB).
Qualtek has implemented its own KNX compliant protocol stack, realising all layers defined by the standard, and has ported the implementation to a number of popular microcontroller offerings (e.g. Microchip PIC, ATMEL AVR, 8051 etc.) aiming at the versatility of integration of the technology in complete systems and multi-vendor environments. In parallel to the stack, the company has developed a full range of nodes (both control and end) providing the capability for the installation of a complete building management and control system solely based on own implementations.
